5 Day Postpartum Reset

One year postpartum. I vividly remember giving birth and being extremely tired from those 3-4 hours of labor. Needless to say, I am so grateful that we are here, both baby and mama are happy, healthy and thriving.

We recently celebrated Noah’s birthday on September 3rd, and then my birthday 2 days later on September 5th. And by celebrating, I mean indulging myself in all the cake that weekend. I knew that after this big celebratory weekend, I would soon be getting serious about getting this waistline back. I have been using breastfeeding as my excuse to eat whatever the heck I want. Besides getting my waist snatched, I want to cleanse my system and my mind. I want to step into year 33, feeling my best self and showing up for this body in the best way that I know how. I want to be productive, confident, and a healthy mama. And I know that the best way I can achieve this is by caring for my body from inside out.

So, to kick off one year postpartum and my 33rd birthday, I decided to start a 5 day cleanse. Ah, yes….gotta get rid of all this sugar and reset my body. I have been waiting patiently for a good cleanse and promised myself I would do it once I stopped breastfeeding. I do not recommend doing this while breastfeeding, as the body is already using so much energy and nutrients to provide amazing stuff for the baby. Plus, a cleanse such as this, could (most likely will) affect the milk supply. So if you’re a breastfeeding mama, save this post and make a note on your calendar to come back to it.

This cleanse is also great for all people – men, women, and those who do not have kid(s).

For this cleanse you will need tons of water, your favorite herbal tea (without sugar), lots of fruits and vegetables, etc.

Here are the details of the cleanse. Please note, that I encourage you to use this as a baseline, to take or add to it so it fits your lifestyle. This is what I did, and I am feeling amazing. I feel so great that I will continue to carry out some of these into my daily routine.

Reset Cleanse

  • 14 hour fast from 9pm to 11am. Please adjust according to what feels good to your body.
  • Tea first thing in the morning. I prefer mint, ginger, or turmeric with a few drops of honey and ½ of lemon.
  • Lots and lots of water before 11am. About 64 oz. Water and warm tea with lemon are important. This is cleansing.
  • Break your fast with fruits and/or vegetables only. I usually eat a banana and/or a fruit/veggie smoothie.
  • Healthy snack of choice or a very light meal for “lunch.” Try to wait at least 1-2 hours after breaking your fast.
  • Dinner before 9pm. Dinner should be clean eating. Lots of cooked foods, protein and whole grains. Some examples of whole grain are quinoa, brown rice, barely, whole wheat, etc. Do not be afraid to eat during dinner time. You have worked hard all day, go in on some good food.
  • Here are a few things I would absolutely refrain from having: soda, refined sugar, and dairy.
  • In addition to these things, it is important to try and get 6+ hours of sleep, 30+ minutes of workout activity (walking, yoga, pilates, etc)

If you really want to go all out, incorporate dry brushing into your evening regiment. Dry brushing is great for cleansing and will help the body eliminate toxins that build up over time and is a great way to exfoliate the body. If you are not sure about dry brushing, you can find tons of information on youtube and google. Here is the brush I use that you can purchase on amazon.

If you have any questions about this reset cleanse, please feel free to reach out. If you do decide to do the cleanse, I would love to hear about your experience. Best of luck.
