4 Ways to Be an Advocate For Your Reproductive Health

I get a bit sensitive talking/writing about fertility. My own fertility journey has made me an advocate for women who are also on their fertility journey. However, over the years, I have learned that ultimately, we are our best advocates. My focus has shifted to empowering women to become advocates and decision makers of their bodies and of their reproductive health. So how do you become a strong advocate for your body?

Here are 4 tips that can help.

1. Listen to your intuition.

2. Receive care from providers who are going to listen to your wants, needs, and desires. Any provider who dismisses any of your concerns is a red flag. Run.

3. Before agreeing to anything, do your homework and research thoroughly what you may be getting into, this includes any procedure and medication (birth control too).

4. Know your options. I quickly learned that some physicians won’t mention other options that are available simply because they do not have the tools, the resources, and/or the knowledge to perform that procedure.

You are your best advocate. Take this with you wherever you go.
